Xi’s CPC 105th Anniversary Speech Published as Booklet
President Xi Jinping’s keynote address delivered at the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China has been published as a standalone booklet by the People’s Publishing House, with distribution now underway at Xinhua Bookstores nationwide, according to People’s Daily. The publication coincides with a Xinhua News Agency commentary urging the continued promotion of the Party’s defining qualities.
Landmark Address
Xi delivered the speech on July 1, 2026, at a grand ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The full text was released by Xinhua News Agency the same afternoon, and the booklet edition became available in bookstores nationwide on July 3. The address traces the CPC’s journey from its founding in 1921 through five key historical periods, highlighting the Party’s role in China’s transformation.
During the ceremony, Xi presented the “July 1 Medal” — the Party’s highest honor — to eight recipients representing diverse fields including grassroots governance, military service, medical care, agricultural development, and scientific research. The CPC Central Committee also recognized 141 “National Outstanding CPC Members,” 150 “National Outstanding Party Workers,” and 399 “National Advanced Primary Party Organizations.”
The ‘Six Always’ Framework
A central feature of Xi’s speech is what analysts have termed the “six always” framework — six excellent qualities that explain the CPC’s endurance and success. As Xi stated, as quoted in the official transcript: “The reason why the CPC has been able to continuously achieve brilliance in its 105 years of struggle, and why history and the people have chosen the CPC, fundamentally lies in the Party’s excellent qualities that are incomparable to any other political party or force.”
The six qualities are: always pursuing truth and keeping the correct direction; always rooted in the people and having a solid foundation; always bearing historical mission and maintaining strategic initiative; always following development trends and staying at the forefront of the times; always daring to struggle and maintaining confidence in victory; and always strengthening itself and remaining full of vitality.
Xinhua Commentary
On July 4, Xinhua published a commentary titled “Carry Forward the Party’s Excellent Qualities,” elaborating on Xi’s framework. The commentary describes these qualities as “the concentrated embodiment of the Party’s advanced nature and purity” and “the key to understanding why the century-old Party remains vigorous and enduring.” It calls on Party members to study and apply Xi’s insights to ensure the Party “never deteriorates, never changes color, and never loses its flavor.”
Xi further grounded the Party’s success in ideological terms, stating: “Why the CPC can succeed, why socialism with Chinese characteristics is good — ultimately it is because Marxism works, because Marxism that has been adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of the times works.”
Party Membership Milestone
The anniversary comes as the CPC released updated membership statistics on June 30, 2026, showing the Party now has over 101.28 million members — a net increase of 1.015 million from the previous year. This makes the CPC the world’s largest political party by membership, representing approximately 7.2 percent of China’s population.
Broader Significance
The 105th anniversary falls in the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), positioning the speech as both a reflection on historical achievements and a roadmap for the period ahead. Xi called on Party members to “strengthen confidence and continue the struggle” for the next stage of national development, emphasizing Chinese-style modernization as the overarching framework for the country’s future path.
According to CCTV, the booklet’s publication makes the speech widely available for study and dissemination across the country, a standard practice for major CPC addresses that ensures the leadership’s message reaches Party organizations, government institutions, and the broader public.
What to Watch
The “six always” framework is expected to feature prominently in upcoming Party-building activities and ideological education campaigns. Observers will be watching for concrete policy initiatives that follow from the speech’s call to action, as well as international reactions to its messaging on global governance and China’s role as a “builder of world peace.”
