Epstein Model Scout Daniel Siad Found Dead in France

Daniel Siad, the French-Swedish model scout whose name appeared thousands of times in the declassified Jeffrey Epstein files, has been found dead at his home in Colombes, a northwest suburb of Paris. He was 69.

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed the discovery on Monday evening and said an investigation to determine the cause of death has been opened, with a post-mortem examination scheduled. Initial reports suggest Siad may have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to the BBC.

The Epstein Connection

Siad’s name appears more than 1,000 times — some sources say 2,000 — in the U.S. Department of Justice Epstein files declassified in February 2026. He was described in DOJ documents as a “scout or recruiter of girls and/or women for J. Epstein” by Epstein associate Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modeling agent who was found dead in his Paris prison cell in 2022.

Emails between Siad and Epstein, revealed in the files, show a disturbing pattern of recruitment. In a 2009 email, Siad wrote to Epstein: “Hello Jeffrey, I just found an amizinng [sic] one. She is 20 years old but she looks younger, from Latvia.” In another message from 2014, he compared his work to fishing: “In This busyness [sic] I feel like fisherman, some time I cache quick, some time no fish,” as reported by France 24.

According to The Guardian, Siad traveled extensively across Europe, visiting villages in Eastern Europe and flying to Cuba and Sweden to source women for the modeling industry — and for Epstein. He remained in frequent contact with the financier until months before Epstein’s death in 2019.

Investigation and Legal Status

Siad was under investigation in France by the office specializing in combating human trafficking. He was the subject of multiple complaints including allegations of rape, but had never been charged or prosecuted. He had not yet been questioned by investigators at the time of his death.

His lawyer, Ménya Arab-Tigrine, stated: “He is dead and he was innocent,” emphasizing that Siad had “never been prosecuted.” In recent media interviews, Siad denied wrongdoing, telling BFMTV in May: “I have never raped anyone in my life.” He claimed Epstein had “used [his] trust” and that he was not “in a position to know that this man was dangerous.”

Victims Denied Justice

Siad’s death has sparked outrage among alleged victims and their legal representatives. Anne-Claire Le Jeune, a lawyer representing six women who made complaints against Siad, told the BBC: “It is deeply regrettable that the slow pace of the investigation resulted in his death before he could be questioned or taken into police custody, thereby depriving the victims of a crucial step in their pursuit of truth and justice.”

Lawyers for the first complainant accused the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office of “scandalous” inaction, which they said demonstrated “the public authorities’ contempt for victims of sexual crimes.”

One former model who gave a deposition to police told the BBC: “An important link in the chain has just vanished into thin air, without there even having been a chance to recover the information Daniel Siad might have possessed, given that he was never questioned.”

A Troubling Pattern

Siad’s death follows a disturbing pattern of Epstein associates dying before facing full legal accountability. Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. Jean-Luc Brunel was found dead in his Paris prison cell in 2022 while awaiting trial on charges of rape and trafficking of minors.

International Reach

Siad’s scouting activities spanned multiple countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, South Africa, Spain, France, Morocco, and Cuba. He contacted local modeling agencies and forwarded profiles to Epstein. The revelations have prompted broader investigations, with Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk announcing an investigative body in response to the Epstein files.

What Remains Unknown

Several critical questions remain unanswered. The exact cause of Siad’s death is pending autopsy results. Investigators are left wondering what information Siad possessed that may now be lost forever. The fate of a German model known as “Michele,” who disappeared in September 2015 at age 22 after having contact with Siad, remains unresolved.

As the French investigation into Epstein’s network continues, Siad’s death represents yet another closed door in the long and frustrating pursuit of accountability for one of the most notorious sex trafficking operations in modern history.
