Courtois Celebrates Mother’s Wedding, Hits Tomorrowland
Belgian football star Thibaut Courtois and his wife Mishel Gerzig enjoyed a remarkable double celebration on Friday, July 24, attending his mother’s wedding in the morning before heading to the world-famous Tomorrowland electronic music festival in the evening. A Family Wedding in Limburg
Courtois’ mother Gitte Lambrechts, who has been divorced from father Thierry Courtois for some time, married her new partner Frank in a ceremony held at Alden Biesen in Bilzen, Limburg province. As Het Laatste Nieuws reported, the wedding was attended by Courtois’ three children: Adriana and Nicolás from his first marriage, and Ellie from his relationship with Gerzig.

From Wedding to Festival
While the wedding ceremony was a family affair, the festivities did not end there. Rather than staying for a large evening celebration, Courtois and Gerzig headed to De Schorre in Boom, the grounds of the Tomorrowland festival, where they caught the set of Dutch DJ Hardwell.
“A big evening party wasn’t there at the wedding, because Courtois and Mishel built their own party… at Tomorrowland,” the outlet noted.
Tomorrowland, one of the world’s largest and most renowned electronic dance music festivals, draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to its location in Boom, just north of Brussels. The festival is a major cultural event in Belgium, making it a fitting summer destination for the country’s most famous footballer.
A Week of Celebrations
Friday’s double celebration was the latest in a series of high-profile outings for the couple. Earlier in the week, on Wednesday July 23, Courtois and Gerzig flew from Madrid to Brussels to attend a concert by Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny at the King Baudouin Stadium.
The couple has been sharing glimpses of their summer on social media throughout July. After Courtois underwent an MRI scan on July 13 that confirmed his World Cup injury was a mild quadriceps strain, they were spotted golfing in Spain on July 15, posted a “dinner date” on Instagram on July 18, and shared a gym workout with daughter Adriana on July 19.
World Cup Aftermath and Recovery
Courtois’ quadriceps injury occurred during Belgium’s World Cup quarterfinal against Spain, where the Red Devils were eliminated by the eventual champions. The goalkeeper left the match in tears, and an MRI scan on July 13 confirmed the injury was mild.
Despite the setback, the 34-year-old shot-stopper is expected to rejoin Real Madrid’s preseason training in late July. The club’s competitive season start is not considered to be at risk, according to medical assessments.
Off the Pitch
Courtois’ wife Mishel Gerzig, an Israeli model and former business owner, has been pursuing a music career alongside her husband’s football commitments. She released a single titled “Summer Paradise” in August 2025 under Courtois’ label Artist Amplifier, as reported by VoetbalNieuws.be.
