China Launches Communication Tech Test Satellites 27A/B

The Long March 6 Modified rocket used for Thursday’s launch is a medium-lift launch vehicle developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). It has previously been employed for missions including the April 2025 launch of Test Satellite 27 (01-06) and the deployment of Qianfan polar orbit satellites earlier in July 2026.

The 660th flight milestone places China’s launch activity in sharp perspective. According to Wikipedia, the Long March series reached its 500th launch in December 2021 and its 600th in late 2025 — meaning the most recent 60 launches occurred in approximately six months, reflecting a dramatically accelerating operational tempo.
