Chaima Saysay Joins WinWin as Co-Presenter on Radio 2
VRT journalist Chaima Saysay is making the leap from radio news to consumer broadcasting, joining the popular consumer program WinWin as co-presenter alongside Xavier Taveirne. The move, announced by VRT NWS, marks a significant career transition for the veteran newsreader as WinWin returns for its fourth season.
A Natural Progression
Saysay, who had been one of the fixed news voices on Radio 2’s morning show ‘Goeiemorgen Morgen!’ since January 2023, took her farewell from the program in June 2026. “I would have liked to stay with ‘Goeiemorgen Morgen!’ for years, but sometimes an opportunity comes along that you can’t pass up,” she said at the time, as reported by VRT NWS.
The transition to WinWin was a natural progression for the 36-year-old journalist. Since April 2024, Saysay had already been co-hosting the consumer podcast ‘Mens erger je niet’ with Taveirne, where the pair tackle everyday consumer annoyances. The Radio 2 communication announcing the podcast launch described the duo as going “to battle against the small annoyances in life.”
“I’ve been WinWinning since my teenage years,” Saysay said in the announcement. “Every day I look for the best deals and question everything related to consumers. My mission is to make sure we don’t get ripped off. That happens too often, and I’m really looking forward to helping all listeners together with Xavier with all their questions and problems.”
WinWin Season 4 Returns
WinWin returns to Radio 2 on Monday, August 24, 2026, with Taveirne and Saysay presenting alternately every other week. The TV version starts on VRT 1 on August 31, marking the fourth television season of the program with six weeks of daily consumer tips and money-saving advice.
“As long as complaints keep flowing into our WinWin mailbox, we can keep making WinWin,” Taveirne said. “In season 4 we will, among other things, take on friendship fraud and the vagueness of your hospital bill. But fortunately there’s also room for laughter. For a good cause. To make your life better and keep it affordable.”
The first weeks of the new season focus on a new segment called ‘Verborgen verleiders’ (Hidden Seducers), revealing how consumers are secretly seduced by marketing tricks and subtle sales strategies. A panel of actors including Ini Massez, Bert Huysentruyt, Laura De Geest, Debbie Crommelinck, Ilse De Koe, and Yung Mavu will bring recognizable situations to life in mockumentary style.
On Radio 2, the focus is on the senses: how food stylists make food look appealing in advertisements, how music can seduce shoppers in stores, and whether supermarket samples really work. On Fridays, reporter Saysay heads out to places full of temptation, such as markets, to investigate the tricks of market vendors.
Five New Segments
Season 4 introduces five new segments alongside returning favorites. Marjan De Schutter presents ‘Hoe zit dat nu?’, Laura Govaerts tests saving tips in ‘Laura op spaarstand’, Senne Guns transforms waste into music in ‘Recycle song’, and Annabet Ampofo tests financial readiness of 17-year-olds in ‘Level 18’. Kamal Kharmach joins for ‘Klacht van de week’, ‘Top of flop’, and ‘De reis van de prijs’, with Siska Schoeters also joining ‘Klacht van de week’ alongside Taveirne.
Returning segments include ‘Grijze raad’ with Bert De Kock and ‘De brokkentest’ with Jacotte Brokken.
A Growing Consumer Platform
WinWin has grown significantly since its launch on January 8, 2024, expanding from a daily radio program to include television broadcasts on VRT 1, podcasts, a Facebook page with over 125,000 followers, a mailbox, and a newsletter. The program won the Wablieft-prijs in 2024 for its use of clear, simple language, as noted by Wablieft.
The program’s relevance is underscored by research showing that one in three Flemings cannot make ends meet at the end of the month, according to VRT research from November 2024, as reported by VRT NWS. “From research it appears that it is very important for Flemings to keep their lives affordable,” Taveirne said. “That’s why we want to support them with VRT.”
Saysay’s career at VRT began in 2012 with the children’s news program Karrewiet, followed by a role as journalist at VRT NWS in 2013 and radio news presenting since 2015, according to her Wikipedia biography. She was previously a newsreader for Studio Brussel and MNM before joining Radio 2.
What’s Next
With WinWin Season 4 set to launch on both radio and television in the coming weeks, the program continues its mission to arm consumers against fraud and help them make smarter financial decisions. The addition of Saysay as co-presenter brings fresh energy to the consumer platform, and her existing chemistry with Taveirne from their podcast work suggests a seamless transition.
